The Bundys are a nice, dysfunctional family. Hard-working shoe salesman Al, who can't catch a break, and perennial housewife Peggy Bundy have a comfortable antagonistic marriage and two kids, a vacuous teenage daughter, Kelly, and a precocious son, Bud, but no friends. Peg decides, against everyone's wishes, that the Bundys need friends and invites their new neighbors, the totally in-love Steve and Marcy Rhoades, two chipper bankers, for company.
